Inside the Huddle of the Pitt hoop basketball team is informational, knowledgeable, and energetic.
During the Huddle, the basketball team claps in a rhythm and gets loud and hyped, getting ready for the game. They show energy, intensity, and excitement as they repeat, “yop” with the rhythm of their claps. They pause for the moment to let the coach say what he has to say, and players pitch in something they have to say. What the coach will tell the players is to come out with energy, remind them what to do during the plays, and be prepared for what the coach analyzed about the other team to outplay their game plans. Players will discuss matchups and positionings on certain sets. As the game is about to begin and the huddle is ending, the team and coaches will put their hands together and say “Pitt 3 family 6, 1 2 3 Pitt, 4 5 6 Family” as they are entering the game.
During the game, the team will come out and play their hardest and put in the most effort they can to contribute to helping the team win. Win or lose, the team keeps their heads up, their energy high, and shows sportsmanship when the game is over.
