What’s trending this fall?

As a student who goes to Pittsburg high school, I think fashion has become just as important as learning for some people. During fall and the colder seasons the fashion and seeing cute but cozy outfits. Fall outfits are the perfect balance for not too old but not hot.Fall colors are also the cutest for outfits since there mostly neutral colors with a little brownish orange and also burgundy . These colors also go very well with purses for girls, boots and sweater.

Lululemon is especially popular among high schoolers in the fall because its clothing perfectly matches the season’s mix of comfort, style, and functionality. As the weather cools down, students love the brand’s cozy yet trendy pieces like Align leggings, Scuba hoodies, and quarter-zip pullovers that keep them warm while still looking effortlessly put together. The rich, earthy colors Lululemon releases in the fall, such as deep browns, forest greens, and warm neutrals, fit perfectly with the autumn vibe. Their clothing isn’t just stylish it’s also incredibly comfortable, making it ideal for everything from school days to weekends too . With its perfect blend of seasonal color, comfort, and trendiness, Lululemon has become a must have brand for fall.

My first and favorite fashion piece for fall is Uggs! You
can wear Uggs anytime, but they’re especially perfect
for fall because they go with everything. In high school,
you’ll definitely see tons of people wearing Uggs and for
good reason! They’re super comfortable and warm,
which makes those chilly mornings a lot easier to
handle. Plus, they’re stylish, so you can stay cozy and
look cute at the same time.

Uggs go perfectly with all the classic fall fits leggings,
jeans, sweats, cardigans and oversized sweaters. They’re
easy to slip on when you’re rushing to school but still
want to look cute and put together. Uggs just complete
that perfect fall look casual, cute, and effortless making
them a must have for any high school student this
season.Plus, they last a long time, so once you invest in
a pair, they’ll be your go-to shoes every fall. Uggs are
made to last through years of wear, which makes them
totally worth it. Even after wearing them a lot, they still
keep their soft, warm feel and look just as cute.

Fashion Trends During Fall

Neatly stacked blue jeans with visible price tag in retail setting.

If you walk around Pitt right now, you can tell one thing about fall fashion this year. There is not really one main trend. Everyone is wearing something different, and that is what makes it fun to see. Some students are wearing big sweaters and boots, others are in shorts and hoodies, and a few just throw on whatever feels comfortable that morning.
Senior Ian Ashford said, “I feel like this year everyone’s just wearing what they want. One person’s in a flannel and boots, and the next person’s in pajama pants and Crocs. It’s chill.”
Usually when fall comes around, people start matching trends like plaid shirts, scarves, or brown colors. But this year feels more open. Some people wear cargo pants, others wear jeans, and a lot of people mix and match summer and fall clothes together. Oversized hoodies are everywhere, but so are fitted shirts and layers. Nobody seems to care what is popular or not, which makes everyone’s outfits more unique.
Another thing that stands out this fall is how creative students are getting with accessories. You can see colorful beanies, chains, tote bags, and layered jewelry almost everywhere. Even small details like socks or nails are becoming part of people’s looks.
It also seems like people are choosing comfort over everything else. Some students find their clothes at thrift stores, some order things online, and others just borrow from their family or friends. Senior Diego Cervantes said, “I just wear whatever I think looks cool. Some days I feel like dressing up, and other days I’m in sweats. It’s all about the mood.” Even though there is no big trend this fall, that might be the best part. Everyone’s showing who they are in their own way. You can walk into one class and see five totally different looks, and all of them fit the person wearing them.

Equality or Expression?

Here at Pittsburg Senior High School, there is an ongoing debate about the school dress code. Many administrators argue that a school uniform should be enforced. They argue that due to the size of the school and the number of people in our district, we see a variety of different students with different backgrounds and income levels. Some administrators say that clothing can be a stress for students in high school, the fear of not fitting in and being self-conscious of what they wear constantly can affect the students’ Mental Health; therefore, uniforms would be the easiest and most effective way to eliminate this stress for students.

The district argues that in order to eliminate any type of bullying or jokes about people’s living situations, students should wear uniforms. They argue that uniforms automatically make everybody equal and create a more inviting and safe learning environment.  While some students may agree, the majority of Pitt students disagree with this argument about uniforms. Many students at Pittsburg Senior High School love that they can express themselves through their fashion style every day. The students who disagree with uniform enforcement state that, “ to create a safe learning environment, students need to feel comfortable. Students argue that they would be more comfortable wearing their own clothes rather than a uniform”. Students also say that, looking at it from an economic standpoint, uniforms can be far more expensive than just wearing their everyday clothes. They argue that uniforms would be an extra expense that families would have to spend on at the beginning of each school year, and although the district may provide some free uniforms, they cannot provide nearly enough uniforms for over  3,000 students every single school year.

In conclusion, opinions on uniforms widely vary. There are some pros to uniforms. Many students believe that the cons of uniforms outweigh the pros. When it comes down to the economic ability of each family and the comfort of the students, students argue that wearing their own personal clothes is just overall a better option. On top of that, having 3,000 students in one school creates lots of diversity, different cultures, values, traditions, and styles. Not having uniforms really lets each student embrace who they are and show their authentic selves.
